Momi Fir (Abies firma) We love Christmas trees and can hardly wait for our beautiful Fraser Firs to be cut and sent to us from the North Carolina mountains after Thanksgiving. For years we have dreamed about growing a real honest to goodness fir tree here in the deep south but knew our climate is impossibly hot . If a botanical genie was to grant us three wishes a fir that would thrive in Tallahassee would certainly be one of our wishes! The garden genie has granted one of our wishes! The Momi Fir from Japan thrives here in spite of our long hot humid summers! It grows slowly to 20-30 feet high. Great as a special focal point or to use as a living Christmas tree. If planted 10 feet apart it will make a beautiful screen.
